2007, Chennai: Sical Logistics Ltd, India's leading
provider of solutions for offshore logistics and integrated
multi-modal logistics for bulk and containerized cargo,
today announced that the company has won the contract for
the operations and maintenance (O&M) of ONGC Ltd's
“Samudrika” category of vessels, totaling 17 in number. ONGC
is India's premier state-run oil exploration company.
The contract is valued at Rs 1.27 billion and is for a
duration of three years, extendable by two six-month
periods. Sical has won the ONGC bid for the fifth successive
time.
Sical's core deliverables for this contract include:
conveyance of men and material from shore to offshore assets
and between offshore assets; fire fighting support to
offshore assets; emergency assistance; rescue operations;
anchor handling jobs for offshore assets; shifting and
relocation of offshore assets; hydrographic surveys; supply
of food and provisions in bulk to various offshore assets;
and assistance in diving activities.
Sical has been one of the key agencies managing a large
number of ONGC vessels operating off the Mumbai coast and
serving Bombay High. In the previous contract, Sical had
operated and managed 15 vessels for ONGC.
The technical management of these vessels consists of
providing competent, experienced manpower; carrying out
planned maintenance of all equipment and machineries
onboard; rendering all repair activities; and timely
drydocking. It also includes import and supply of spares,
compliance of all relevant international/ local maritime
rules and regulations, maintenance of INTERNATIONAL SAFETY
MANAGEMENT and surveys/audits as required by the
Classification Society or the Mercantile Marine Department.
Sical has a dedicated team of qualified and experienced
seafarers along with five Master Mariners and five Marine
Chief Engineers, who will ensure the effective execution of
this project and the operational availability of these
vessels.

contract is a reaffirmation of Sical's ability to provide
offshore logistics services that meet international uptime
and other benchmark standards.

"This contract combined with our PSV Sical Torino, which is
successfully deployed with Peterson Oil in the North Sea,
will make offshore logistics contribute at least 30% of our
revenues for FY 2008. We will consistently evaluate the
expansion of our fleet through the acquisition of new-built
vessel assets that have cutting edge technology and are in
demand because of their capabilities across a global
customer base", Ashwin Muthiah added.
