March 9, 2007: Sical Logistics Limited, the leading
provider of integrated multi-modal logistics for bulk
and containerized cargo has established a new handling
record for steam coal at the Ennore port. A total of
54,552 tonnes within 20 hours 37 minutes were handled
at the port on March, 8, 2007. This is in excess of
the previous record of 53,639 tonnes, which was set
on October, 21, 2004.
Sical Logistics Ltd has been operating a Coal Terminal
at Ennore port since February 2002. Till this date the
terminal has achieved a handling limit of 37.83 million
tonnes and has an over all capacity to handle 10 million
tones annually. The terminal operated by Sical Logistics
Ltd uses mechanization of the coal vessels unloading
which provides a sustained delivery of 4000 tonnes per
hour.
Congratulating Sical on this achievement Mr. S. Velumani,
Chairman and Managing Director of the Ennore Port Ltd
said, “I am happy to note that Sical has achieved
the highest ever coal handling of over 54,500 tonnes
in a single day. Ennore port compliments Sical and TNEB
for accomplishing this excellent task. Ennore port is
all set to cross the 10 million tones level of traffic
this year ending March, 07. Sical’s achievement
only reaffirms our conviction that the port will realize
its full potential very soon."
